In Korean history, the Bronze Age began in the Liaoning area of northeastern China in the 10thcentury B.C. which was followed by the Iron Age in the 3rdcentury B.C. During the period of the Three Kingdoms, when gold/silver smelting and alloy technologies became more advanced, elaborate gold crowns and earrings were produced. After Buddhism was introduced to the Three Kingdoms, craftwork used for Buddhist ceremonies was manufactured, and especially during the Unified Silla Dynasty bells and vessels containing Buddha¡¯s bones became popular. During the Goryeo Dynasty, craftwork used for Buddhist rituals such as censers and water jars as well as splendid accessories and daily objects for the royalties were made. Later, the Joseon Dynasty was influenced by Confucius culture and thus saw many more practical and simple daily objects than Buddhist craftwork
